Abstract:
Der vorliegende Beitrag setzt sich mit dem Selbstverständnis der Basisbildung in Österreich aus der Perspektive der Mehrsprachigkeitsforschung auseinander und nimmt dabei eine migrations- pädagogische Perspektive ein. Diese fasst Mehrsprachigkeit nicht nur auf der Ebene der Sprachkompetenz, sondern bezieht auch soziale und gesellschaftliche Dimensionen von Sprache mit ein. Deutsch wird heute zunehmend zum sozialen Ausschlusskriterium instrumentalisiert, von dessen Beherrschung der Zugang zu Arbeit, Bildung oder gar die Chance auf ein Leben in Österreich abhängt. Im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs hingegen wird der positive Einfluss von Mehrsprachigkeit auf den Lernprozess immer stärker betont. Welche Bedeutung kommt nun der Mehrsprachigkeit in der Basisbildung tatsächlich zu? Hat diese überhaupt Platz in den vorwiegend in der Mehrheitssprache Deutsch angebotenen Basisbildungsangeboten? Der Beitrag geht diesen und weiteren Fragen mittels einer systematischen und kritischen Lektüre der „Prinzipien und Richtlinien ... : This article examines the self-conception of basic education in Austria from the perspective of plurilingualism research and takes the point of view of migration education. It understands plurilingualism not only at the level of language competence but also factors in social and societal dimensions of language. Today German is being exploited more and more as a social exclusion criterion on which access to work, education or a chance at life in Austria all depend. In academic discourse, on the other hand, the positive influence of plurilingualism on the process of learning is increasingly stressed. What significance does plurilingualism actually have in basic education? Is there any space for it in basic education courses, which are predominantly offered in German, the language of the majority?
